This year, the theme is ‘We Go Beyond’, aiming to showcase that B Corp certification isn't just a mark; it's a global movement of people going beyond business as usual to make their mark on the world. It will invite people to understand why and how B Corps make impact.
Each year, we are thrilled to get the opportunity to share more about our B Corp journey and that of our B Corp members, but beyond the certification process, we’re excited, as this month’s theme ‘We Go Beyond’ is simply pertinent across our member community, who we genuinely see going above and beyond business as usual every day in our sites.
Where’s x+why at?
We certifited as a B Corp here at x+why back in July of 2021. The certification was reassuringly difficult, requiring much hard work, scrutiny and dedication. But, it has been instrumental in our company’s journey and something that genuinely motivates us for better business every day. B Corp is the gold standard for assessing whether a company is having a positive social impact, and rigorously assesses all elements of a business, including how it treats employees, the environment and its community.
We are proud to be a part of the B Corp community. We came away with a score of 98.3, in all honestly it’s too excruciatingly close to the coveted 100 point score, and so, we’ve set ourselves a challenge of a Race to 100 when we re-certify in 2024. The B Corp certification has seen us double down on our mission to build and report more sustainably, we’ve done so in great detail in our latest Impact Report which you can access below.

We are proud to have 15+ B Corp Certified businesses across our community at x+why, including B Lab Global and B Lab UK themselves.
For companies on the certification journey and navigating the BIA we host The WhyB Programme, to unite, motivate and support companies in partnership with: B Lab UK, a non-profit that serves a global movement of people using business as a force for good; and Seismic Change, a consultancy of B Corp Consultants, Net Zero Experts and Sustainability Strategists. How can x+why members get involved this B Corp Month?

20-minute drop-in conversations hosted by the B Corp UK team to support you with any questions you might have about B Corp Certification.

First off, who are you and what do you do? 💼
I'm Alex, and I lead the integrated brand & marketing efforts for the B Global Network; that's all the B Lab and Sistema B entities around the world.
What is your 'Why'❓
I've always felt fascinated by the power of storytelling; it can shape thinking models and even transform the world. At the same time, I feel very frustrated that we humans continue prioritising the wrong things and struggle to see beyond our noses. This is why I am trying my best to play a part in a movement that showcases that success in business can come hand-in-hand with benefiting everybody and taking care of our planet rather than being at odds with it.
🅱️ When it comes to the past, present and future of your B Corp Journey, do you have any key insights from each stage?
Before learning about the existence of the B Corp movement, I used to think that, although each of us needed to try to be 'good citizens of the world', our individual power was somehow limited and that real change was in the hands of others with greater power and influence. Now I understand that everybody has an extraordinary sense of agency, and pretty much all of our actions hold the power to effect systemic change. My truly advantaged position, which allows me great visibility of how our movement is taking shape in different parts of the world, helps me learn about the diverse ways in which businesses of all sizes and industries are coming together and transforming our world for the better, every day with increased strength.
