As B Corp Month 2023 draws to a close,  we wanted to give a final member shoutout to a fairly new arrival to 103 Colmore Row, Emperor - a creative consultancy specialising in creative reporting, digital, engagement and brand communications

Emperor's Founder, Steve, kindly took time to speak with our team about what the B Corp journey has looked like for them as well as some #WhoWhatWhy recommendations and insights as always. Scroll to discover!

Steve is the Founder of Emperor Design, one of our newest members at 103 Colmore Row in Birmingham

What is your 'Why’?

Our mission is to create a truly sustainable legacy business that is a force for good. We took the decision to become employee-owned in 2020, which means our partners have a say in how the business is run and they are invested in its success – which means better outcomes for the businesses we work with.

Tell us something you find helpful in your working day.

Meeting likeminded people who share our mission to be better for people and planet – ambitious companies making positive change is a real motivator for what we do at Emperor.

When it comes to the past, present and future of your B Corp Journey, do you have any key insights from each stage?

Following on from employee ownership, B Corp felt like a natural next step for us. We have a track record of responsible business eg. Founder mindsets, pledges launched in 2016/17, excellent and established governance. B Corp provided a framework with which to gauge our approach and guide us going forward. B Corp was never the end goal but rather it is part of our responsible business story and sustainability journey. We continue to better understand where we can make the biggest impact and how to measure that impact.

Shoutout time. Name a company you think are doing great things.

Kin and Carta. It has transformed itself from a printing company to an innovative hi tech business whilst being the only UK listed business to be BCorp certified
