Steeped in history, brimming with creativity and dappled with green spaces, East London is an enviable place to base your professional life. Click to discover our favourite reasons why.

Community

A sense of rich community and community heritage is overt when stepping into East London, whether it’s the many markets, historic buildings or business initiatives that catch your eye. We love the work of the Spitalfields Society, a group dedicated to the preservation and improvement of the borough of Spitalfields. The design of our x+why site, Hugeunot Place, in Spitalfields, is in many ways inspired by the historical community of Huguenots who once resided there, and is today a rich community of tech entrepreneurs and innovators.

Creativity

East London creativity is abundant. Much of the area has an industrial history but over the course of the past few decades a pioneering community of artists, cultural organisations, activists and cultural businesses have become a driving force of creative industry and innovation. Shoreditch, Hoxton and Whitechapel are good examples of vibrant, young areas buzzing with artistry. Just down the road from People’s Mission Hall lies the Whitechapel Gallery, ‘the artists gallery for everyone’.

Transport links

Widespread workers of London typically find East London a popular place of work as relatively it’s well connected. People’s Mission Hall is situated in the heart of Aldgate East, just a stone’s throw away from the City. Huguenot Place sits just off Brick Lane, within four minutes of Liverpool Street Station.

Tech and indie business hub

East London is the ideal location for energising a company of any size given its proximity to some of the most lively and flourishing areas of the city. This side of town epitomises the ethos of ‘work hard, play hard’, with a more flexible range of budgets than you might find further west. It’s for this reason that many of the city’s best start-up programmes and incubators tend to locate their events and programmes near the area.
