Meet eighteen: x+why’s first club space

As the sun rises across the Birmingham cityscape this morning, we can’t help but feel a great sense of hope for what the future of our latest space to open holds.

Situated on the eighteenth floor of 103 Colmore Row, we’re opening a breathtaking club space for tenants of the building and their guests, as well as those looking to host events. This venue is unlike any space we’ve opened before. Find out what to expect here…

You’ll be able to find the x+why staples at eighteen; impressive meeting rooms, stunning event spaces, sustainable products and green credentials but you’ll also be wowed by the emphasis here on balancing work and play.

Eat and drink at eighteen

Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by our world-class hospitality team. George Cochrane, our Food and Beverage Manager, has spent the past 6 months traveling the country to find the most premium and ethical produce, creating meaningful partnerships with local suppliers and crafting a menu which will excite you. ‘We’ve been intentional about the sustainable ingredients we’ve chosen, crafting each dish to celebrate in-season food and the different produce from the superb suppliers we’re working with’ George tells us. He’s been most excited to see the British burrata be put on the menu and can’t wait to pair it with heritage tomatoes and delicious sourdough from Brum bakeries. ‘Often, the simplest pairings are the most delicious. As long as the quality of the product is premium then you can’t beat a straightforward, unfussy dish. Everything at eighteen is put together for a reason’.

George has built his team at eighteen by bringing in real experts who are just as passionate as he is about Birmingham’s food and drink scene and its potential to shake up the industry. His first hire was Head Chef, Dami, who loves to infuse his cooking with inspiration from his Italian roots. His adoration for the city of Birmingham, in which he’s been living for the past 5 years, doesn’t go unnoticed and you’ll find him at the weekends foraging for the freshest fruits and vegetables before he heads home to come up with innovative ways of utilising what he’s picked up. The British plum and rose compote he whipped up and served with thick greek yogurt and crunchy, nutty granola for our recent networking event went down a treat. Eighteen’s Bar Manager, Janis, is the perfect person for the job as he tells us that he loves nothing more than mixing creative cocktails late into the night. His pictures of the sunrises and sunsets from the bar make us all want to join him up there, no matter the time.

Take a seat at the bar, speak with our chefs and always save room for a dessert. If you’re all about show stopping season food, drinks you can sip and savour, stunning views and great music, eighteen is the place for you.

The event space at eighteen ends itself perfectly to private dinners, meetings and workshops, with built in presentation screens and projectors. Whether you’re looking to host an intimate meeting, a workshop for your team or clients, up to 150 people for a seated dinner or 200 people for a cocktail reception, this is the perfect space to host your next event. Eighteen and its roof terrace with unrivalled views across Birmingham also makes for a unique venue to celebrate special occasions.

eighteen champions modern hybrid working and enhances employee engagement through its programme of events. We’ll be offering members and their guests the chance to attend over 100 talks, panel discussions, screenings, workshops, wellbeing classes, DJ nights and experiences a year. We’re dedicated to providing a platform for organisations and individuals driving positive impact locally and globally. Our mission remains the same across our work spaces and now in our club space: to change the way the world works for good. To do this, we focus on enabling members and visitors alike to develop a deeper understanding of the challenges facing the world today and the role we can all, as individuals and as businesses, play in creating a better future.

eighteen is a private clubspace reserved exclusively for tenants of 103 Colmore Row (and their guests). Membership can be purchased by companies or individuals, either to support hybrid work strategies, boost productivity or just as an employee perk. It’s a benefit which gives everybody the perfect reason to return to the office.
