What is the eligibility criteria to join your members club at The Orchard?

To join our members club at The Orchard you must be be a workspace member at x+why or a member of the Portman Estate.

What are your co-working facilities like?
Can I bring my dog into the office?

Yes, our space is dog friendly. However, you must contact unityplace.reception@xandwhy.co.uk at least 48 hours ahead of your visit for more info.

Can I bring my dog into the office?

Can I bring my child into the office?

The ground floor to Unity Place and its amenities are open to the public and all ages, but the 2nd floor (x+why space) has a no under 14’s policy.

Yes, please use our enquire form and a member of our sales team will get back to you to arrange a tour.

Additional Fees

At x+why we specialise in purpose-driven businesses committed to doing business in a responsible way.  You do not have to be charity, or a social enterprise (we like profits too!) - but you do have to sign our pledge, demonstrating your commitment to ‘better business’.  

We have a variety of members, you can read more about them on the blog or find them on the community page.

bring a guest

Yes, we use the Greetly system at reception, this will alert you when you have a guest or food delivery. They simply enter their details to gain access to the space but will not be sent marketing details as a result.

co-working facilities

Our spaces are designed with your comfort in mind. Each space has communal areas full of natural light and plants. Our break out areas are equipped with sofas and chairs, along with a quiet areas for deeper focus. All areas come with printing, high speed WiFi, guest announcement system and an invoicing and booking system.

app

Yes, we have a member only app. You can connect with the wider x+why community through the app available on the Android and iOS App Stores when you join one of our spaces.

Yes, all members are given access to ezeep or Uniflow printing, which makes the process quick and easy to use. ezeep and Uniflow are a cloud-based print server that will offer you a ‘personal printer’, this means that wherever you tap your membership card, only your files are accessible and printed.

We have a variety of memberships to suit individual needs.

Small businesses, entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, freelancers and students might be interested in out co-working memberships - which give you access to the ground floor co-working area and kitchen, as well as our community events, workshops and initiatives.

For larger businesses, we have a variety of private offices available, seating anywhere from 2 to 50 people.

All memberships include:

  • Tech: lightning-fast wifi, mood-balanced lighting and sound, plus an app to help you maximise your membership
  • Events: access to our cultural programme of purpose-related events and workshops, including our exclusive B Impact Assessment Programme
  • Community: part of an active and collaborative community of like-minded, purpose-driven businesses
  • Wellness: dedicated wellness studio and cutting-edge fitness programme. As well as showers, towels and changing rooms stocked with GHDs and Dyson hairdryers
  • Little Luxuries: Birchalls tea, fruit, an ethically stocked honesty bar, and sunny courtyard
WhyB Programme

The WhyB programme is a course designed to motivate businesses as they complete their B Impact Assessment (BIA).  Over the course of four afternoons businesses receive the support of dedicated B leaders and trainees, a network of peers, and an inspiring environment in which to meet and work.

We run the programme in partnership with B Lab, who are themselves x+why members.

B-corps are a new type of business that balance purpose, people and profit.
