B Corp Month at x+why: A Simple Symbol, a Powerful Signal, and a Score We’re Proud Of.
Every year during March, the global B Corp community join together to celebrate all that it means to be a B Corp. This year's campaign, ' A Simple Symbol, A Powerful Signal', shines a light on what the certification represents. A commitment to people and planet. A promise of accountability. A dedication to continuous improvement. Every B Corp looks different, but that small, circled B connects us through common goals.
112.1 and climbing
This year, we are celebrating something big at x+why. We have officially re-certified as a B Corp with a new score of 112.1, up from 98.3. Our whole team contributed to this increase, as part of our ‘Race to 100’ rallying team drive, we all came together to contribute, and we jumped well over 100.
Certification is never the finish line. It’s a checkpoint. And a moment to ask ourselves and each other how we can go further.
B Cop Month Over the Years
This will be the fifth B Corp Month that we’ve celebrated at x+why. Over that time, our flagship site, People’s Mission Hall, has really led the charge as a hub for learning, connection, and many unforgettable evenings. We’ve welcomed speakers from B Corps such as Innocent, Brompton Bicycles, Lucky Saint, Pip & Nut, BackMarket, Ben & Jerry's and many more.
More recently, we’ve also hosted the official B Corp Bar at The Orchard clubspace in collaboration with the team at B Lab UK, and participants from fantastic B Corp certified drinks brands.
Each occasion and each B Corp Month has been a reminder of what happens when businesses come together with curiosity and a shared drive to do better.
Purpose packed to the rafters
We are incredibly proud that almost 40 B Corps call x+why home. From Ricola sweets to Lick paints, Emperor Design, Beryl, Milk & Honey PR, Saboteur and even B Lab themselves.
We see every day what happens when purpose driven businesses, of all shapes and sizes and stages, sit side by side. It is electric.
What’s coming up this month
B Corp Month is always a highlight in our calendar, and this year is no different. With the addition of International Women’s Day on 8th March, we’re in for a treat. This year we will be hosting:
- A pop up with Tony's Chocolonely, Arding & Hobbs
- The Big B Corp Lunch with Tenzing
- A Brunch and Learn on 10 March diving into better business and B Corp with Milk & Honey, at Arding & Hobbs
- Women in Tech with AND Digital at Foundry on 12 March.
- An International Women’s Day Brunch at The Fulwood on 25 March.
- B Local Manchester at 100 Embankment on 31 March.
