The Hive is Coming to Manchester's Northern Quarter, and We Couldn't Be More Excited

We didn't pick this postcode by accident. Since opening at 100 Embankment, just across from Manchester cathedral, on the Salford side, we’ve loved seeing The Northern Quarter doing its own thing, that's exactly the energy we want running through our newest workspace. Timber-rich interiors, made from reused materials from when the building was The Arts Council. Design shaped by local artists rather than a corporate mood board. It's a building with heritage that's been reimagined for the way people actually want to work today.

Getting to know the neighbours

Part of landing somewhere new is falling in love with what's happening there. And honestly, the Northern Quarter makes that easy.

Companio Bakery is our next-door neighbour, and if you haven't had their bread yet you're in for a very nice surprise. A few doors down you'll find Mouro pulling shots of house-roasted coffee in a room that somehow makes Tuesday morning feel like an occasion. Evelyn's does the kind of brunch and dinner worth building your whole day around. Northern Flower fills the street with colour before you've even reached their door. Siop Shop turns doughnuts into something like an art form. Gooey does the same for cookies and French toast. Matt & Phred's has been keeping the area alive with live jazz every single night for decades. And Renae brings the music-led, record-shop-by-day energy that this neighbourhood does better than anywhere else in the city.

These aren't just nice mentions for making friends. These are the people we’re genuinely inspired by, that we'll be grabbing lunch from, sending clients to, and hopefully getting to know properly over the next few years. We recently made a short video in the area too.

So what's actually on offer at The Hive?

Work. Meet. Belong. Private offices with room for teams of two through to thirty, kitted out with generous desks and chairs that are genuinely ergonomic, our team have tested them. The ground-floor arcade is where the social part happens, we're very excited about our immediate neighbours within the building, an incredible restaurant and deli, because sometimes the best meeting happens over a decent coffee or gorgeous plate of food, rather than a conference table. Each office has been conscientiously designed by our wonderful colleague Jess, our in-house design team and some very esteemed local architects.  

Then there's the community side. Free monthly member drinks. Free monthly member breakfasts. A calendar of social events and wellness activations designed to get you talking to the people two doors down, not just nodding at them in the lift.
